As a project, “The District of Climate” focuses on various climate and sustainability “champions” in and around our nation’s capital and their unique and innovative solutions tackling some of the most urgent issues.

Inspired by my involvement with DC Climate Week and the many climate “champions” I’ve encountered, this project’s primary goal is to bring visibility to the many entrepreneurs, innovators, activists, and creatives who lead the charge daily in the hopes of a more sustainable, safe, and equitable future for society. Whether it be sustainably-sourced food ingredients, composting programs, activism through climate art, or energy-saving technologies, the main mission of the project is to amplify how individuals are approaching the climate crisis within their own communities using their own means. Additionally, these stories may also show others how these methods could be scaled and adopted to fit their communities outside of the District of Columbia/DMV region, thus proving how localized solutions can lead to larger impact the more that they are implemented.
